So much for not selling out your gang.
It looks like Sabu one of the folks who has been speaking for LulzSec has been secretly working for the FBI according to multiple online reports. Lulzsec has been one of the leading hacking groups and has seriously gone after a ton of people, companies, and others who were engaged in activity that annoyed Lulzsec.
There were a lot of companies that simply annoyed the group, and as one of the major hactivists groups in the world, dispersed, with few identifiable leaders, Lulzsec was and will most likely remain an interesting opponent in the world of hacking. While the FBI might have this group of leaders, there will be others; there are always others who will be willing and able to step in.
The vetting process though for the new LulzSec leadership is probably going to be more brutal now that one of their own members has turned in the leaders that he knew about. The interesting part is that LulzSec uses a cell formation; it will be of interest to see which cell competes and makes it to the new leadership circle. And if the FBI or any other police agency can infiltrate the group as readily as they were able to infiltrate Sabu’s cell.
